Last weekend, members of the Grateful Miles Running Club took our love of running to new places — traveling to Washington, D.C. to take part in the DC Half Marathon.
What started as a small group running the Philadelphia Half last year has quickly grown into something special. When our co-founder, Ezekiel “Ziggy” Stoneham, suggested DC as our next destination race, thirteen members signed on to join the adventure.
Proudly representing bermuda
Our crew — Daniel Woods, Courtney Anderson, Alex Lymbery, McQuinn Burch, Shannon Burchall, Omari Tucker, Marcus Darrell, Robert Richardson, Keishon Wilson, Jahkai Hill, Delbert Doars, Nelshea Bean, and Matthew Madeiros — proudly represented Bermuda and the Grateful Miles community on race day.

Big thanks to BermudAir for helping us get there with a special group rate — we started with ten seats and had to bump it up to fourteen! The trip was an absolute blast and the race itself didn’t disappoint. With close to 10,000 runners, the energy was electric from start to finish.
Compared to our hilly Bermuda routes, the DC course offered a refreshing change — just 150ft of elevation gain versus Bermuda Day’s 700ft! Add to that a cool September morning and a 7am start, and it made for a truly enjoyable run. The results spoke for themselves: most of us hit new personal bests, and five runners completed their very first half marathon.
This is what Grateful Miles is all about — good vibes, big goals, and pushing each other to go the distance.
We thank the Bermuda Tourism Authority for seeing the vision and aligning with us as best as we could, and BermudAir have been great in sponsoring our shirts and giving us discounted prices to fly away.
